Before purchasing a TI, I was wondering how efficient the rear mirage drive would be considering that the effectiveness of its pulls could possibly be negated by the turbulence created by the front drive. I suspect not noticeably by much. But it made me think that one "peddler" could be more efficient than the other. And thus, it could be possible that a single drive could be taking on a majority of the task to move the boat with two seats occupied. Kind of like a tandem bike with the rear person not peddling much or at all, making the front person do all the work. Only way to notice if they run into a hill or a stop/start situation.
So I’m thinking the Hobie engineers must have thought of this and designed the gearing/mechanisms/boat to allow a single person to move the boat. Designed not intended to be used as a solo craft and so not advertised as a possibility – I don’t think anyways. But technically very probable to comfortably peddle a TI solo.
But if it does feel too heavy or slow peddling a TI, then you can always use it more as a sailing craft when going solo.
