I have something in mind and will start looking for light material like aluminum and build like a ladder shape cart with wheels at one end and use it as hakas without removing the wheels. We will never get satisfied if we continue to limit the size. BTW. I like the way they attached the new spinnaker to the Akas. That's how the Hakas should be attached to the Akas or better.

Something like this?

Also plenty of info over in the haka thread viewtopic.php?f=69&t=37645&p=239243&hilit=not+just+seat#p239243

SFJ--I think the term "divorce boats" was applied to kayak doubles, i.e., real sea kayak doubles. It was applicable to them, but the tandem--nothing sweeter for a couple. I think your used AIs will be fine, but when you upgrade, you might think of a tandem.

What Keith said!
The Hobie's are the only tandems that are not divorce boats, just the opposite in fact. We came from SIK's and had a double. Trying to co-ordinate paddling was a nightmare and it was easy to see how they get the 'divorce boat' tag.
Our first Hobie was a tandem and we really enjoyed it from the first pedal. No co-ord issues at all. Each can pedal at their own pace.
We sold it when we got our TI but have missed it's simplicity so much that we have just ordered the latest Oasis so we can head out together for a quick pedal easily. We love the TI for day trips or longer but for a short trip of a few hours the Oasis can't be beat!

I recall somebody who was in to some sort of whitewater competition saying that you could always detect a tandem coming around a blind bend by the sound of bickering.

Pete and Keith are exactly right.
We have couples in South Australia who opted for two Hobies.
The wife now usually stays home as the husband keeps sailing/pedalling away in the distance.
Could be a good thing at times.
Having tried pedalling it on my TI is doesn't seem to matter how fast I pedal it doesn't work

Wouldn't swap a tandem for a single for quids.
