For those of you wondering when the TI's would be arriving - I got a call from my dealer today letting me know my TI has arrived here in Florida!

May be short the mast and sail... before you get too excited. Mast and sails are following up in the next few weeks I am told. Dealers were sent notification of this, but may have skipped the memo.

This info fits the latest update from my dealer.
I've stopped holding my breath waiting for this..........
I'm expecting the weather to be quite a bit cooler here before I get mine
The good news for you guys on the other side of the world is that it will be considerably warmer than it is now when you get yours :)

Yes, I just found out today it's without mast and sail. The dealer told me he spoke to Hobie and it will probably be about two more weeks before the rest arrives. Evidently, the dealer didn't realize this until he opened everything then saw the memo.

All; Hi we just got a call from our dealer that our tandem was delivered about 9:30 AM today so after work we will pick it up.
He said its complete but no tramp's. He still dosen't know the price of the tramp's even. The jib is still a dream. Should come out later.

We have 2 Outback’s and 1 Bravo and love to sail/fish. Congratulations on your purchase and hope to see you on the water.

Denise & Larry

My tandem arrived today in Michigan. It rode in the truck on its side and is scuffed up quite a bit. That wasn't as bad as the dent though. The bow in the area of the front hatch must have been resting on a box and got deformed. I sent pictures to customer service and they said that it would pop out with some heat.

I find it interesting that the warranty states that it does not cover "Damage caused by improperly supporting kayak when transporting or storing."

Should I let the dealer fix this or refuse delivery?

The transportation or storage prior to you buying it is not covered by warranty... warranty is post purchase coverage. This sounds like truck freight damage, so have the dealer deal with our sales department on it.

Matt,

I mentioned the warranty because it seems that Hobie must consider this type of damage quite serious. Or am I misinterpreting?

I have no beef with Hobie at this time. ALL of my contacts have been GREAT!

The reason for posting was to get some opinions on this since I have never bought a kayak before and have no experience with polyethylene and what it might do over time. I should have been a bit more clear. And posted in problems area instead of here. And done a search on dents, which I have done now and realize that this isn't the big deal I thought it might be. Sorry, everyone, for the band width.

Thanks for your comment, Matt. The dealer is doing that very thing and said that he would contact me once he had a plan of action.

Gary

My new Tandem AI is home now. What a difference a day makes. The dealer set it outside with some black plastic over the dent. It isn't very warm in Michigan yet, but by the time I got over there at 4PM, the dent was almost gone. I am so relieved. Now to get some sailing in. I am heading South Tuesday after work. Can't wait . . .

I guess that I over-reacted when I first saw the boat, but this is the first new boat that I have purchased in over 20 years.

Let the games begin!

Not at all! The boat should be to your liking and without damage from freight or storage. Glad the dealer did the work for you and all is good!
