First Island as Kayak trip

I've never used it this way, but I'm planning a down a river trip. I've never used it without the amas and sails. I'm not sure about the stability without them. Should I be worried ?

Also I can't find the 'plug' that goes into the mirage drive hole. i'm not worried about getting wet, might not like to drop something and lose it down the hole... any other issues with not having that? Or should I just put the drive in and use it in the deep parts and push it up in the shallows? On occasion I'm sure it would scrape a mostly sandy bottom....


I've canoed this river before so I'm not a complete novice.... just not familiar with the island in this role.
