I read the thread in Tandem Island tech notes http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=26418 where they were talking about the Aka Lock, Main sheet Chafe Plate Kit, Steering System and 2:1 Up / Down Control Lines and a few others but it is the Steering system I wish to ask about.
My AI is an older 2007 model and its rudder looks very similar if not the same to the image in this thread. Now if I am correct, Hobie are suggesting to cut a portion of the rudder away for better performance and less wear.

So my questions are
(1) Am I correct in my assumption?
(2) Will this also work for my 2007 AI model rudder, can I expect a better performing rudder and less wear/stress on my rudder control line which I have now replaced once ?

PS, My local Hobie rep (thanks very much Scott  ) replaced/upgraded my up/down control system if that matters, which I doubt.

Thanks in advance Matt !!!

Those Tech Notes are for a Tandem Island only.

The issue with the rudder is the load required on the down rudder control line. The Tandem Island uses an internal 2:1 and is significant.
