A new Hobie Kayak Centre has opened in the Sutherland Shire, in Australia. It's on Captain Cook Drive in Caringbah. Website is http://www.hobiekayakssydney.com.au
Only just opened for about 2 weeks and it's a great looking shop. Just about everything in stock, you can even look at the new tandem Island. There going to have their demo days at Silver Beach at Kurnell. Great for us being so close.
Deb. :D :D

Hmmm, interesting.

Silver beach looks like a good place to launch from. Hopefully my last weekend being on call this weekend. I'd be out chasing Det on Saturday otherwise. Hopefully I can get out soon.

How prepared for winter sailing are you? :)

Have you launched from here before?

Wouldn't mind checking out that nature reserve at some stage. Sure to be heaps of critters in there.

Hi cowsgomoo. Silver beach, the southern end is great for launching. Plenty of beach access and parking is not a problem. The nature reserve has a lot of little areas that you can explore. A top spot.
I think that's where the shop will be doing their demo's. The other end of Silver beach has the Nat, Park, and the Caltex warf. There are some spots you can launch there too but the southern end is ideal.
We still haven't bought any gear for winter but when I visited the new shop, Vince suggested the dodger, keeps off the sun and the spray. what do you think of the dodger, looks a bit funny in the brochure although looks aren't everything.
Cheers DEB.

Ok, I'm confused. Unless I've got the wrong beach it runs east - west. Which end is the southern end? :?
Is there in intersection nearby?

I don't know anybody with a dodger. There are people on the forum that use them in some of the colder parts of the world. Personally I just dress for the conditions. For me the dodger would make the cockpit a little too cramped. But that's just me, others like them.

If you look on the map you posted, it's Bonna Point that's the best spot. Sorry about that. Cheers Deb.

I visited the showroom today, after hearing about it's opening on this forum.
"Wow" what a place, Every Hobie Kayak and accessory you can think of on display.
The guys were very friendly and helpful too.
It's great to have our own specialist Hobie store in the Shire, I,m sure they will do great business.

Pete :D

Welcome to the forum Pete. Have you got an AI or still drooling at the showroom.
Seems to be a few people coming out of the woodwork from the Shire. Might have to apply for a visa and do a trip down that way. Pretty sure Det would be keen to if he's in town.

Hi Cowsgomoo,

Thank you for the welcome.
I have a TI on order and can't wait. At the moment surviving by living off the videos and posts of the lucky few that already have theirs.
I have recently sold my ocean kayak to raise money for the TI, so doing it tough without any way of getting on the water at the moment, but I'm sure the wait
will be worth it.

Pete
