I know most of you in the U.S and Hawaii have received the components for the temporary fix. Has anybody in Australia received this yet?

Cheers
Paul

I haven't yet... although my Hobie dealer (Josh 'Yakass' Holmes) gave me a length of bungee and the stud thingy so I could fix that part now.

I picked up my TI last week and it had the temp fix installed.

Riddo,
I emailed Hobie Aus yesterday and and got this response from Steve Fields:
'The kits are now in, please provide postal address.'
So I'd say any time soon! :)

I got my new TI several weeks ago and the fix was fitted by Hobie Australia I understand.

I suggest if you got one around the same time you check it was done right.

Also check the loctite was done (mine wasn't). Also check the screws into the hull are tight and with loctite (again mine wasn't, and was loose)

I think maybe at this time it was being sorted and the fix not fully understood.

Honestly though, put the new pin in and in reality I do not think it a big deal to use the shock cod. I don't use it as it seems to work OK without it as is. In heavy winds..maybe you need it.

I broke the new pin (not sailing related) and I see the problem with old one. Problem is though I cannot get a replacement new pin!!!!!

A little surprised as injection moulding them is a pretty fast process!!!

Thanks guys. Sounds like it should be available very shortly. I will contact Mal from Sunstate Hobie and see if he has received any of the kits, although assumedly it will be posted directly to me as my Yak has been registered.

Cheers
Riddo

Max, your details have been provided to Hobie Aus and I trust you will receive your kit soon, as will every other who have bought TIs from us.

On a side note (and this is just semantics) I am not your dealer. Maclean Outdoors is. I just work here - it's my day job. Referring to me as your dealer infers I own the business, and I don't (nor do I take a commission). I'm making a point of saying this because there has been some confusion about this around the traps, with people confusing me and my website with the store. They are not connected.

Cheers

I picked up my TI a few weeks ago; my dealer did the bungee fix, but we have not got the pin. All screws were checked and good!

I do hope the pin comes in soon, I have had a few issues with steering; at leased I know I have my tension too tight and can back it off!

If you are using the bungee you don't need any tension on the rudder down line.

Hi all

I'm new to this forum and soon to be a TI owner - I currently have one on order - can't wait.

I'm assuming mine will come with this temp fix already done to the rudder, but what I'd like to know is if any of the veterans here, know when the proper fix will be made available?

I've read the official news release from Hobie, but it does not seem to indicate any ETAs.

Does anyone else have an update?

The kits have been in Australia and boats have been retrofitted, so new ones should be good-to-go.

Thanks Matt.

Any news on the ETA of the redesigned rudder system for the TI as mentioned on Hobie's website?

Long-term solution
For the long-term, we are developing a completely new rudder system specifically designed for the Tandem Island and Adventure Island. The new rudder system will be fully functional without the short-term additions provided in the retrofit kit. Our engineers have already begun testing several new systems, and we anticipate finishing the process in the coming months. Once the new system is available, it will be provided to all 2010 and 2011 Tandem Island owners to replace the existing Twist and Stow rudder system....
