I've used the search button, and read dozens of posts, but would anyone be kind enough to sumarise the changes made for each of the models. I read that the drive system had some improvments made to it so it was made quicker to fit in place / remove which I think is a useful mod.

As I'm looking at 2nd hand Adventure Islands would like to know my model mods!

I don't mean this to be a long thread as have found details on the forum re. mods that have been made but am lost as to which model is which. Thankyou.

I can't even tell you when each and every mod was made along the way. I have not kept a log of the changes and know of no such log here.

Pav,

I think the 2009 has all the significant upgrades.

2009 ushered in the new drive lock-down system.
2010 gave us the new drain plug position, and a new seat and paddle, as well as turbo fins as standard
2011 gives us all of that, plus new xbar & aka system, new shape in parts of hull (most noticeable at stern, seat and added drink holder) and incorporates buoyancy inserts as well as larger rudder system as seen on TI.

So does the larger rudder make much difference to the steering of the AI?

Is the rudder area larger or just reshaped and remounted?

Did the Aka spacing change at all, with the new crossbars?

Will it be available as an upgrade for earlier models?

The 2011 transom changed to accommodate the larger rudder, so no. Will not work on older boats.

Hi Matt,

Do you have a picture of the new AI rudder system up close? It's hard to tell the difference from the pictures on the website. I'd like to be able to take a closer look.

Thanks JollyGreen.

Looks nice! I can see why that would be better, and of course, I can't upgrade my boat to that!

:)

The 2011 AI also has new TI style carrying handles on the side and the larger rudder handle with screw in insert for the future hiking stick/handle knob.

The larger rudder is nice but have to use the bungee to lock it down or suffer pop outs under heavy loading.

So, easier to ground the rudder now.

You'll notice the furling cleat is moved. Likely to get in the way of the drives more.

I'm wonderin if the AI tramps will fit properly over the new Aka knuckles?
