Matt - Tandem Island - Anchor trolley

Has anyone fitted the anchor trolley to their TI yet. I have just bought the kit and was wondering on the best method/positioning for fitting. Any pics would be useful

Obviously nobody has fitted an Anchor trolley to a TI, looks like I am on my own with this one!

Matt is it possible/reccommended to fit an anchor trolley to a TI?

I read somewhere that because of the length of the TI you should install 2 anchor trolleys but I don't remeber where I read it.

I can't see why not, but we don't have a kit that has hardware or lines long enough for the TI.

I was considering installing a trolley from the port side of my TI's rear aka to its bow's carry handle pad eye as follows:

rear aka > bungee/snubber section > shackle/block > trolley line/ss ring > block/shackle > bow pad eye

I figured port side was less cluttered with my sailing lines. And I need to be able to operate it when tramps are deployed and sitting in the rear seat solo. Intended to be used when deploying my drift chute, anchor, or bow line.

Haven't gotten a chance to install and test yet. Just some ideas that might help...

dosjers - I know its long and heavy but surely it doesnt require two, is that with seperate anchors on each trolley? a bit like the QE2

cliffsyak - that sounds workable but I like to anchor to the front sometimes especially in rougher weather.

Matt - the length of line isnt a problem I can just buy a longer piece, what did you mean by the "hardware" part? will the hardware in the standard kit not hold the weight of the TI or is it just that there aren't enough bits for the length of it?

reconlon - if I do it I will post pics, still taking it under advisement at the moment

There are a number of fittings that route the lines done the side of the hull. Might require more. I can ask Morgan in our fishing department to comment. He understands the kit and what is required.

I don't know where I read that the TI should have 2 anchor trolleys but I remember it said it was because of its length. I have an anchor trolley on my AI but haven't put one on my TI so I don't have any personal experience with it.

The length of line that comes with the anchor trolley kit is 32 feet. Since the Tandem Island is 18'6" in length, the anchor trolley line will not run the entire length of the hull.

40 feet of line should enable you to run the entire length of the boat, and you can trim off the few inches of excess line when done. The hardware that comes with the anchor trolley kit will work just fine for the installation. I like to get the blocks as close to the end of bow and stern so that if I choose to drift bow or stern first, my kayak sits almost perpendicular to the swell or current resulting in the most comfort. Follow the instructions provided with the anchor trolley kit, but remember you are working on a longer kayak, so you will need to space things out a little more and use most of the provided hardware. The 3 eyelets with hardware that are provided can be used to guide the line up and down the kayak. These should be evenly spaced between the blocks and used to guide the bottom line while the top line stays open to allow the bungee, hook, and your choice of anchor to flow freely.
