I finally have a TI on the way. It's going to be tough to part with my old buddy the AI, but my wife has invoked the "maximum boat limit" I seem to have reached in the household. One must go for the other to be allowed in.

I'm glad she doesn't feel that way about our kids......

Has anyone else exchanged an AI for a TI and had any regrets about doing it?

Is it also true that having a Dune TI will automatically make me a better sailor than my peers with inferior boats? (You know.....the Red and Yellow ones.)

I love taking new people out on my TI, and using it when my wife wants to go out sailing with me, but I still use an AI for most of my trips. The AI is a pleasure to sail, the TI, even though it's about 1mph faster, is much more work to use. Launch, landing and working the lines and even steering are more work. I enjoy it, but if I'm going out to play, especially if the wind is possibly going to get above 18mph, then I want my AI!

Some of it may be that the AI was my first sailing boat. Or that I've spent more time tweaking my AI's to make them "MINE".

I'm glad I have my TI, but don't ever think about taking away my AI's!! 8)

I only have the TI - and its great.

My suggestion is wait until your TI comes then put you AI on the market for a little more then the new AI's are going for (Nobody will go for it). You can say to the fife that you are trying to sell the AI; after a month has passes you say that you wildraw the 'ad' and try a few months later. Then you just forget to repost your add 8)

Congratulations on your smart decision. Another bias TI owner here.

I too have a Dune TI, and whilst 65% of the time I sail solo, I love the option on being able to take family and friends in comfort when the opportunity arise.
