I recently purchased a used sail that was designed as an oversized (about 80 sq ft) mainsail for the Adventure Island. The sail has a mast extension (upper) that allowed it to be used with an AI mast. I plan to use this on a custom trimaran that I have that is deeper than the AI, so it will require a longer mast. So, my question is this: Does anyone have information about the stiffness of the AI or TI mast so that I can determine whether or not I can use a windsurfing mast or find another suitable mast that has comparable stiffness. If someone would be willing to support their mast between two sawhorses, hang a 25 lb (or 50 lb) weight in the middle, and then measure the deflection, that would tell me exactly what I need to know. For reference, the windsurfing masts that I've tested deflect about 1 1/2" when the supports are 12' apart and I use a 25 lb weight. Again, any thoughts, comments, suggestions, or data would be a huge help.

Thanks,
Andy
