Hi guys,

A couple of simple ones:

1: What is the diameter (mm) of the AKAS bars?

2: What is the grade/type of alloy they're made from - and is it 'weldable'?

Cheers,

Mike.

The original akas are welded, so... yes, weldable. We usually use 6061 T-6

Hmm...

So are they 50mm, or 41mm (1 5/8")? :-)

I need the external diameter of the tubing, as I'm trying to design a mounting plate to fit a Scotty #241 deck mount... It'll be welded to the AKAS cross-member (behind the seat).

Cheers,

Mike.

My 2007 AI Aka tubes (not the crossbars) are 1 5/8" OD, therefore 41mm.

That's a center round reading, and due to stamping they will vary in shape as you move out toward the ends.
