Hi all,

I am in the process of ordering a TI and I am wondering whether I should get the iComfort seat. The reason I am considering it is because I had an i14T inflatable and I found it much more comfortable to sit on it compared to my friend's hard hull Oasis, even though they had the same standard Hobie seat.

I am wondering if the iComfort inflatable seat on a hard hull boat will give a similar soft effect as the standard harder seat on an inflatable boat. My bet is that it will, but does anyone have experience with both of those configurations? I'd appreciate any feedback.

BTW, I am aware that the new hobie seats have lumbar support, but the seat bottom is still the same as the old standard one, correct?

Thanks for any insights!
Best,

Pesan

The seat in inflatable kayaks isn't the same as the others. Its close, identical in some respects, but the seatpad is different. Its thicker in the inflatable version - almost twice as thick.

But yes... the i-comfort seatpad will make for a softer plusher ride and it sounds like you'd prefer that. Don't hesitate - get one. They're great.

Thanks guys! I didn't realize the seat bottom was different; thought the difference was because of the soft boat.

I definitely prefer a softer seat, so it seems that the iComfort is the way to go to get that on the TI. I will order it for one seat to give it a shot. Thanks again!

I have used both the standard AI/TI seats and the iComfort seats.
Going out for just a short cruise, the standard seat worked okay but I found that the iComfort seats made a real difference when I spent more than an hour out sailing. After having one on my AI, I installed two on the Tandem. It makes a real difference in how long I can sit, without having to get up and get circulation running again.
Just remember to 'roughen' up the seat insertion plugs and hull holes when you install the seat. I found that the insertion holes were originally so smooth that the plugs slipped out even when fully tightened.
