NOHUHU my last stop at a Hobie dealer in Florida, first week in September, and the conversion kit was still V.1 crossbars. Don't know if that is good or bad.
The service life of V.2 bars is yet to be determined since they are new.
Thankfully, I don't have the problem with loose rivets but I do have corrosion around the rivets at the knuckle joint. I also have the rounding of the socket groves where the akas lock.
I used the Hobie tramps all the time until the buckles gave out and then made a copy of the original NOHUHU bat-bench which locks the akas tight and reduces the torsional forces.
The V.1 bars have a proven track record and there are modifications to tighten the bushing and adding exterior carpet to the joint to reduce motion.
I haven't bought a conversion for my adventure hull because I want the V.2 crossbars so I have the same parts as our 2011 AI.
A new AI also has a new rudder, rudder handle, center carrying handles, foam flotation and larger dagger board.
I removed the carrying handles due to splashing.
New rudder handle is nice but you can get the parts and do a conversion.
The new straight up down rudder is nice in shallow water and is strong as a battleship. There is no over-powering the new rudder. Full sail and a jib works great. Sadly, can't be put on older hulls.
It seems to be more a question of time and money. Since you already outfitted one hull we already know you have the skill.
Hard choice improve a proven friend or risk the unknown of new possibilities.
Or avoid the choice have both and say the new AI is for the wife.
