Hey there Hawaiians - My wife, mother-in-law, and myself will be visiting your paradise at the end of the month and I could use some help / info planning our visit. Mom's health is due to take a down turn in the future and the one place she said she always wanted to go but never had the chance to visit was Hawaii .. so my wife Kathy and I are going to make it happen ..

We will be flying in to Honolulu on Friday March 27 and staying in Waikiki for the night and then boarding the Norwegian cruise ship on Saturday for some island hopping. Hoping to take in at least a bit of Pearl Harbor before boarding ..

First stop is Maui arriving Sunday March 29 and we will be there over night departing on Monday afternoon. We are looking to rent a car near the Cruise docking ? .. and do some exploring. My wife and I have actually been to Maui before so we're pretty good on what to do there.

We then leave Maui and head to Hilo Hawaii arriving on Tuesday. What's to do there ? Is the Helicopter tour of the volcano / Lava flow worth the expense ? if so, any outfitters you'd recommend ? Other things to do ?

We depart Hilo Tues. afternoon and go around to the other side to Kona. We have also previously been there but stayed at a resort and didn't venture out much .. except to go diving several times and tour the coffee plantations. Whats to do ?

Leaving Kona on the April fools day, we arrive the next daty at Nawiliwili Kauai in the morning on thursday April 2 and will be there until the afternoon of the next day .. again, totally clueless on what to do.

We do want to do some turisty things but both my wife and I are the type to take the path away from the crowds - the only hindrance is Mom not being very able to walk great distances.

Any and all help is welcomed .. I've dreamt of sailing your big seas but the only opportunity if someone was so kind to offer, would probably be Sunday march 29 in Maui or possibly Kauai on Thursday April 2

.. I'd also like to offer my services to anyone that may need something from the mainland - I'd be glad to try and get whatever you need as long as it will fit in my suitcase (sorry, no AI2's !!)

Thanks for any help you can offer

Alan
