After about 7-8 months of reading all the information that you good people have provided (Thank you!), I finally ordered a 2015 Papaya Tandem Island and the Hobie trailer/cradles. I don't think I have been more excited since I was eight years old at Christmas! :D I had to tell someone!

I am a newbie to Hobie products and sailing, so this is going to be a very new experience for me. I have been reading up on sailing as well as taking a boating safety course. I know this is not required, but I am definitely safety conscious. I live in Virginia, so I should have plenty of places to take it out and learn. I will probably try a couple local big lakes before going into bigger water/rivers closer to the Chesapeake Bay. Any suggestions for locations for learning would be appreciated. I live in Richmond.

I am also trying to decide on a cart. I am leaning towards the Hobie Beach cart with the beach wheels, since I think it will help me to get it in and out of the water. I have a bad back, so any tools will be worth it to me. Any comments on others that have this cart would help. Other must have accessory suggestions would be welcome to. I already have the standard PFD, dry bags, first aid kits, VHF radio, kayak light with flag, safety knife and plan on purchasing some flares to meet the Virginia requirements.

I will post pics once I get the kayak home in 2-3 weeks and hopefully some video of me in action soon! Needs to warm up a little first. Most of the water around here is in the 30 degree range! burr!!!

Congratulations. I bought the same boat in the same color. I had it out for the third time today in some fairly high winds and whitecaps on the lake. Boat handled it better than I did. It is a great boat to learn sailing on. Easy to rig, easy to launch, and just plain fun on the water. You will love it.

Congrats! Welcome to the Hobie family. I pick up my first TI from the dealer on the 4th and am super excited as well. I got a hibiscus with tramps, a trailer and cradles, and a cover.
