My roof racks are spaced 45" apart - so whatever AI I buy would need at least 45" of flat space between the iakos on the gunwales to be carried upside-down on the roof racks.

Obviously not a religious issue - but upside-down has it's attractions.

Looking at the photos, I'm thinking "No Problem".

Edit 2015 08-21 21:19:

Just got a chance to measure hands-on.

No Problem. Plenty flat space there.

My opinion is that after you tried that inverted car top a few times (sounds like an enormous hassle), you would decide that the centerboard knob was not a good reason to rule out the AI2..
