How's that for a WTF subject iine?

When I fold in my amas with the vaka on 30cm beach wheels, the starboard ama is laying on the wheel.

Not a huge deal, but it does rub when the rig is pulled along.

My corrective action is to shove the paddle under the amas as per:

This raises the amas up nicely:

The Questions:

  • Granted this isn't German Automotive Engineering.... but I have to wonder if maybe I have done something wrong to cause that starboard ama to rub on the wheel - or is it within the bounds of normal slop in the system ..... This is the first time I have rigged the akas/amas with the beach wheels.
    .
  • Is the workaround sound? ..... i.e. Am I going to cause some other problem by doing the paddle thing on a regular basis?
