With amas folded in, the starboard ama hangs almost two inches lower than the left.

It's not the knuckle: both knuckles are equally tight. It's the part that inserts into the xbar: more rotation on that one than on the other 3.
Strictly a convenience issue on land (a spar has to be wedged under the akas to keep the ama from rubbing on the beach wheels).
With amas extended, the only immedately-apparent effect es that it is harder to mount/dismount that ama - probably because of the subtle twist in the aka's post as it inserts into the ama.
But I have to wonder what is going on here and if I am headed for an "Interesting Experience" sometime out on the water on a windy day.
Anybody care to speculate ?
