a little cushion for the pushing of the waves

This weekend finally got some video content of me using the drift sock in action as I reentered the surf. This really keep the nose of the TI facing towards land and not going broad side.

Looks very effective. All I have read on the use of drift chutes is that you need to ensure that the distance behind you doesn't match the distance between waves, as there is a danger that both you and the chute will pop out of waves simultaneously, thus momentarily losing the braking effect of the drift chute.

One thing that is different about how I'm coming is by the use of the outboard motor. This keeps constant tension on the chute and eliminating that lag time between wave set.

Love the video. That worked great. Was that video with the motor in use?

Yes, the motor was in gear about 1/4 throttle.

That was a cool video. It looked so easy.

I had some trouble with a little bigger waves in La Jolla a few weeks back. I broke an ama bungee going out. I ended up McGivering it on the water and had a great time seeing the seals and caves. On the way in, I decided to put the big sand wheels in, have my girl friend sit in the back, and I got in the water and put my right arm around the stern and held the stern handle with the left hand. Then, I put my weight on the stern and pushed it down. The waves washed right over us, (ice chest got loose), and eventually, the wheels hit ground and we pushed her into shore. Easy, if you are willing to get real wet. When the wheels are in, the TI is a real pig, the waves don't catch the boat as easily.
