Can I use the akas and mast from my old adventure island 16' to the new 17' tandem?

Don't think so. Depth of hull is deeper in TI, making furling drum in the wrong place on the mast. Not sure about the amas

Second hand info, but...

I sold an older (2008) AI sail to a fella with a 2015 TI hull with no guarantees and he said all he had to do was heat the big SS pin in the bottom of the mast socket, pull it out, and then everything plopped into place hunky dory.

That doesn't make sense to me.. More details please. Why was the pin removed (and what was it replaced with), and how did applying heat not damage the hull?

The 2008 AI was backward with the pin in the mast instead of in the mast cup.
