I’m just starting to explore sailbots and want to make sure I’m prepared with the right gear. What essentials should I invest in as a beginner? Do you have any recommendations for things like waterproof bags, sunglasses, or other accessories that are useful when sailing? I recently bought a waterproof bag from https://www.dealsandstealstoday.com/view-your-deal/ and wanted to know if anyone else has tried their products.I’d love to hear about any gear you’ve used and how it holds up out on the water. Any tips or suggestions from more experienced sailors would be greatly appreciated!

Somewhere there is a topic that discusses this very thoroughly, but I can't find it. Next best thing is for a naïve person to post answers that other people don't accept, and then they will come out of their shell. Thus:

Lifevest: Not an automatically inflated one with a wet sensor, since you get wet easily. Crotch strap may seem silly but some of us no longer have a waist and can easily fall downward out of it when afloat.

Sunglasses: Polarized please, although it can get expensive for prescription versions.

Personal locator beacon: Optional, as well as sports cameras.

Sun protection: wide brim hat, long pants, long shirt sleeves, and I even wear gloves. Not hot if you splash water on it. In spite of this habit (verifiable on my youtube chan) I now sit with about 30 staples resulting from skin cancer surgery.

Lanyards: leash everything, including your hat. Mirage drives, paddles, drybags, etc. I use elasticized lines with strong sheaths meant for fisherman.

Water shoes: Never barefoot; you may be walking back to launch for rugged miles. Not clogs; you may have to do an effective frog kick to get back on board in deep water.

Flavorful drink: something more nutritional than water is my preference.

Check list: List of these things to check for before you leave, maybe highlighting items to charge beforehand.
