I found a crack in the forward drive well on my Tandem Island.

I decided to try the Loctite 3035 rather than the welding method. Because the 3035 is a thick liquid I was able to squirt it into the crack and "mushroom" it over on the inside and outside. After curing (it took 4 days to fully harden) I was able to sand it smooth. It seems to adhere very well to the polyethylene.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

Let us know how it holds up in use.

Any idea as to what caused the crack?

Did you check the underside of the hull for any cracks below the drive well?

It's been 6 months since I did the repair and I thought I would post an update. I sailed the boat in Michigan thru the summer with no leaks. In February I took the boat to Florida for two months. My first sail in Florida I had a small leak. Don't know if it was the temperature change or the 1,500 miles of vibration. I applied another coat of Loctite 3035 and let it dry for 4 days. I haven't had a leak since. We'll see what happens when I bring it back to Michigan. I'll post another update in the summer.
