Are the rod holder tubes supposed to be water tight. I didn't have a leak on my last PA but on my new 2015 PA-12, I noticed water in the hull after an outing. When I wash the PA water leaks out of the end of the rod holder tubes into the hull. should these tube be water tight.
By the way, I love the upgrades Hobie made on the 2015 PA-12. It now tracks straight w/o a lot of rudder corrections and the H-rail is awesome

I always find a little water in my PA14s after washing. The bottom rod holders capture the water that runs into them from the floor. I have totally removed those rod holders on my 2012 PA14 to get to side board screws at the front. The tubes are pinched off at the ends. I can't remember if they are totally sealed by the plastic coming together as a tab.

If you're seeing water coming out that pinched area while putting water down the tubes with the front hatch open, then I would take the tubes out and seal the ends. There is a gasket behind the front rod tube plate as well, but it sounds like you are seeing the water come out the pinched ends.

Pulled the rod tubes out this weekend and filled with water. All four tubes leaked badly.
Sealed with silicone sealant and tested. Now dry when filled.
Just a heads up for those PA owners that are seeing water in their hull after an outing.

Thanks for confirming what the issue was. I'll bet mine have a similar leak. I might yank mine out and do the same.
