I am looking for a cooler to put on my 17t on the battery platform behind the 2nd seat, or on the far back of the kayak. ANy recommendations what could fit there? The Yetis get great reviews, but cost a fortune. I like Engle's price point and the reviews are just as good. But then there is this competitor to the Yeti called Rtic that is half the price.

Any thoughts?

I have nothing to do with this site. Have found it helpful in comparing coolers. They have most anything I'd ever heard of along with specs.

I'm looking for one for my PA12 behind the seat. 20 inches max width so that at least helps me cull a few. Also don't really need ice for three days as I'm usually fished out well before then. Think I'm leaning toward lower price and weight. I have a 20 yr old Igloo I'd use if it wasn't too wide.

Good luck on your search.

For Christmas last year I received a Yeti from my thoughtful girlfriend. It seems to fit well into the rear footprint of my PA12. I can't speak to the price since I didn't purchase it, but in terms of quality, finish and functionality, it is probably the nicest cooler I've ever used. It will hold ice for days, if I choose. That said, it's *just* a cooler, and I could easily get by with a cheaper brand/model.

This isn't the best value option, but in terms of quality, I can see no reason why this cooler won't last for decades. It's kinda like owning a Hobie :-)

Here's a video where some guys tested 4 coolers and the yeti didn't seem to be worth its price. It's a bit dated (2010) so it may not be relevant to your decision, but I thought I'd throw it in since I struggled with a cooler choice myself a while back. I went with the Coleman, btw.

What is going in the cooler? How long does it need to keep ice?
