I own a 2021 pa14 and I am confused about some comments I hear only occasionally about this kayak not being designed for coastal waters. From 2022 I used it in rivers and dams but in the last 2 years I have ventured a couple of miles into coastal waters. Initially I was cautious with the seat always in the low position and any extra weight stowed as low as possible. More recently I am using the raised seat position. So far I cant work out the substance behind those comments. Using the paddle to punch through 2 foot waves at the beach is a pain and reversing through the waves on return is a bit strange, however once beyond the waves, to me at least, the thing seems a delight as far as handling goes. I see plenty of internet posts with the pa14 in open waters and obviously there is a wealth of coastal water experience out there. What am I missing about "not being good for offshore"? If I knew then I hopefully would be better prepared and possibly able to deal with any seaworthyness issues.
