Just incase anyone is looking for a fishfinder case. I wanted a box to store it when not in use and still fit in the hatch. Got a pelican 1150 works like a charm for the lowrance 4inch.

Anyone know where to find Lowrance extension cables? I want to be able to leave my finder in the back position 70% of the time but still use it in the center every now and then. I was thinking just wiring up another power up front and then I would just need a transducer extender. There are tons on Amazon and I just get confused. Anyone done this on an Elite 4 Chirp?

Question for Matt Miller: My gear bucket doesnt fit the rear hatch? Is it supposed to? I hate those tackle box things so i wanted to put the buckets in all three hatches but it doesn't fit because of the ribs in the pics.

Finally finished my lowrance finder mount i had a defective unit. The slider part of the back clip wouldn't slide. Have it mounted in the rear for now but i am looking into making the cables long so i can pull it to the solo seat or getting extensions.

Which camera mount did you get? I'm still looking for one.

Railblaza boom 600

http://www.yak-gear.com/shop/kayak-cano ... a-boom-600

Got all the mount stuff from yak-gear they were great to deal with!

Also ordered my micro pole. If anyone is looking to get a micro pole I highly recommend hydrillagear best price i could find!

Picked up my 17T last Friday. Rigging commences tomorrow.
First order of business is to install my Elite 5. I'll let you know what I come up with in the center vs. rear seating moveable mounting position. Haven't decided whether to run the cable externally to the secondary position or just re-feed the wire through the hull when I switch seat location. My guess is that I'll be fishing from the center position more than 50% of the time.

Also need to install the anchor trolley. Do they have a different kit for the 17 or the same one as the 14?

Dont know about the anchor trolly as i went with a micro pole.

As for the cable for the finder you dont want to be pulling it through the hull a bunch its not that easy.

My plan is to leave it in the back and pull up enough to use in both locations.

Got most of the power pole installed on the railblaza mount. Just need to go pick up a battery tomorrow. Looks like it will work well I am not so sure about the rigidity of it but we'll see. I like how you can take it off really easy. the plan is to mount a battery in the yellow pelican so that it's all mounted on the rail. Then when I am not fishing and just dorking with the family I can take it off and it just leave the 2 little mounts.

For my fish finder I just decided to pull more wire and it will just be bundled in the next when in the rear position and strapped to the h-rail when in solo

And finally the beginnings of an idea for a rack..... galvanized pipe.... might look a little hillbilly but if it works i'll rock it!

ignore the messy garage it's still winterized (i.e. throw as much crap as you can in the 3rd bay so the cars fit in the first 2).

Let me know how the pipe goes. I still plan on using unistrut. I think I've figured out the engineering I just need dimensions so I know how much is going to cost me.

How are you doing the unistrut 90s? That is what stopped me from messing with the unistrut. I am going to use it for the light bar once I move the axle box forward. Might mess with the trailer rack this weekend but have to take the kiddos egg hunting.

They make 90° brackets that you can attach using 3/8" spring loaded rectangular washers that fit inside the channel and 3/8" bolts. The only thing I don't have worked out is attaching the uprights to the trailer. I want to do it with pins if possible but if I have to use bolts I'm ok with that. Actually I could probably do it with u bolts pretty easily. The nice thing about the unistrut is since it's slotted on one side and a channel on the other the whole contraption would be highly adjustable.

Alright had a chance to test out the Tracport 900 micro pole mount. Doesn't work for the PA17 at least. To much flex it felt like it was going to break the star-port 32-41. This would work fine if you mounted the tracport to the deck but I don't want to drill holes in my PA. I am going to hit up Yak-gear and let them know just not sturdy enough. I am either going to re-engineer or go with the Hobie mount which I don't like but will not permanently alter my yak. I was pretty excited about it too.

Edit- Yak-gear was quick to answer my email and gave me some ideas to try if it works I'll let you know.

Ok played with it and decided to make it less quick release but more stable. Still can come off but would be harder to get back on.

Image

Just bolted it to the Hobie landing pads with bigger bolts. The railblaza star mounts bent and flexed too much when deploying the pole with any boat movement or current (so always). This mounting is way sturdy so it will work.

Image

I am going to send a pic to power pole and see if they have any issues with the way this mount is. I dont know if the twisting force is bad for the power pole. Wish i would have thought about that earlier before i bought this mount. But i really want to hang a trolling motor off the other side.
