Sounds good! Thanks for clarifying. Another winter project to add to the list. :D

Matt, wondering if there has been any thought of producing the shorter mounting boards as an add on to the upgrade kits?

Thanks

Anybody upgrading looking to sell there old rails & leftover steering handle setup ?? Looking to retrofit the 2009 pro 14 I have I know it will take a lot of custom work routing cables but didn't like the single side in rod holder option. Found this kit but wanted the shorter rails that came stock. Wanted ether original rounds or h rail. Seems like best forum to ask the questions

"Also... only for models that have the steering up through the side rail that started when the 12 came out. 2012?"

Mat, any chance you can clarify this exactly? And are you able to confirm whether or not there was a revision on the steering crank in the initial release of the system that came up through the side rail that was actually longer than the new crank in the upgrade kit? I ask because a customer of ours has a PA with dual steering (therefore coming up through the side rail) and the crank from his boat is longer than the one in the kit (and longer than 2014 models I have compared against) and it does not fit his boat.

Easily ordered separately, so no need to add to a kit.

84502011 MOUNT BOARD, 2015+, LT BLK
84502111 MOUNT BOARD, 2015+, RT

PA12 started March 2012

Possible changes were made, but I have no detail available on it. May have used a PA 14 cranks to start...

Engineering says any boat with Vantage seating should work. If the guy has a longer arm… use it if he needs to.

A log of changes says PA12 started Vantage Seating March 2012. PA 14 2013 Model year.

Matt, here's a pic of the crank from his boat, compared to the one that comes in the kit. It is longer, and that might not be an issue if not for that extra post, which we suspect would need to be removed. We can't see how it's going to work without doing that and we don't have his boat here to test.

I can't imagine that there is anything with the kit that affects this post... It was for a rotation stop.

The engineer says it is irrelevant. Either use the existing crank with the post, cut the post off or use the one from the kit.

Thanks Matt. As I said, we haven't seen the boat itself, but we have looked at the crank and compared it current floor stock of boats and it looks to us that the post would have to removed to achieve the height required, as it would otherwise dig into the deck above it. Customer tells us that try as he might, he cannot get the crank high enough to fit it. In any case we have passed on this info. Thanks for the response

Odd... If his had rail steering before... seems the height would be the same? I'm not the expert on this one at all.

Maybe he is hitting the rotation stop or something else?

Yeah, struck me as odd to. It's possible he is doing something wrong, but if he isn't able to get it sorted I'll see if its convenient for him to bring the boat in. I wouldn't consider myself a PA expert either (certainly not the SLH resident PA guru - that would be Scott, who's away), but almost all staff here have looked at that post he brought in and we can't see how it's going to work. Removing that post from the crank would sort it out though, for sure.

Some very early 2012 PA's had the steering plate internally on the floor of the kayak - and they had a longer shaft - those plates were switched out to a side mount - I need to look back for info on this - I believe we had a kit at one point to change these parts out - I forget what the issue was - but guys were making the switch... let me look into some old posts to try and figure out this change.
