Stand n Fish vs H-Bar

Anyone out there with PA ever fished with the Stand n Fish and the H-Bar? Which one do you like best? Pros / Cons?

I should clarify...just the Stand N Fish leaning post is what I am interested in.

I have the Hobie H-Bar. Great accessory. It's not in the way, up or down. Makes getting up out of the seat a breeze. Helps stabilize you (not the boat) while standing. I think this is the #1 accessory for the PA.

I think I would just get the leaning post as it is pretty stable. I am just on the fence on which one to get. I have a fishing buddy that uses SnF on his Revo and it is not just a leaning post. It is also handy for storage. It has a place for your stake out pole, rod storage, paddle holder, nice place to hang your gear (radios, thermacell, knife), higher spot for your flag, or you could add a bunch of Gear Trac's and get crazy with it.

Need some education

I fish the PA aiming for big mean redfish who run all over the landscape once hooked. How can this H-Bar not be in the way of fish fighting?

Kayaks are mobile, they move under pressure from a fish.

Should a fish decide to run around the front of the boat, you'd just stand up (if you're not already standing) and follow the fish around the front of the boat to the other side. The Bar is barely waist high, you can easily sweep a rod over it.

I just haven't found mine to be in the way of anything. I don't even bother folding it down. I leave it up all the time.

I think the leaning post behind would be more of a concern ......... also I think it's easier to balance leaning against something in front than something in back.

The h bar can be taken down easily on the water ....... doesn't seem like it for the leaning post .........

don't have either but I'm considering the hbar ........ I have the scotty stabilizers/outriggers ......... would like to use it w/the torqeedo for flats sight fishing ........ just an idea for now

Installed the H-Bar last week...and so far, with all the "stand-up" testing I have done in the garage...have yet to fall out of the yak... lol

On a serious note...heading out for the first water test tomorrow and plan on staying close to the ramp just in case I push the envelope too far and go ass over elbows into the drink.

After that, heading out to 20-35 FOW for some Crappie fishing.

It works best to test it in the water, a couple of years ago I waxed my bass boat in the driveway and when I stepped on the side rail I fell out between the boat and the trailer. ouch!
The water would have been a lot softer.

I have been thinking about the H-Bar but I have not even got to test out the my new PA yet the water is a little hard up here.

Will purchase the H-bar today. Is it hard to install yourself or is it best left to the Hobie dealership?

You can easily do it yourself.

I think there was even a short Youtube vid that will walk you through it.

Tested the H-Bar on the water yesterday...like it a lot. Makes it so much easier to get in the standing/sitting positions. BUT...I totally agree with Tom K's statement from a previous post. (quoted below)

"One caveat - the H-bar becomes a lever. A boat that was previously very difficult to tip over becomes very possible to tip over if you should lose your balance and grab the bar top as you topple over. Use your head and remember the bar is intended to help steady you, not make the boat more stable."

IMO...easy enough install.

Thanks Salt Warrior. that thing has everything except the kitchen sink!!! Great set up, but wonder how it would work on the PA? Do the two legs on the back spread wider?

I have seen the stand & fish on a PA on craigslist. Here is the link and I posted a picture in case the add gets deleted. So it can be done. I think its removable with a couple of pins as well. It looks like you would have to stand in your seat which might get uncomfortable after a while.
