Always remember the scupper holes are a very weak spot on the yak... Stress and strain in not good on the thin walled area. good luck

I hear ya. I figure if it can handle the weight of the yak on the cart it can handle a 5 pound downrigger. The weight will be on the platform feet. Scupper pvc is to hold in place...

Worked out awesome. I used dowels with rubber feet for the platform. The pvc in the scuppers just adds a little stability, not much i dont think. I drilled holes in the platforms above the scuppers and slid the pvc down into them, clips in the top of the pvc keep them from sliding through... Ill try post some pics soon as i know this is prob of interest to some. downrigger and platform are behind the seat i totally dig it
