So I just bought a PA12 and have a Visicarbon setup with the Scotty base that I want to use. I got the rectangle Scotty flush mount and was hoping to mount it somewhere in the rear of the kayak and to the port side as I usually cast over my right shoulder and don't want any snags. Has anyone mounted anything similar in the rear of the PA12 that can suggest a good spot for it? I was thinking of trying to squeeze it in just before the rod holder, just not sure if there is enough room. Would love to see some pics if anyone has any. Thanks.

What I did was opt for just the light without the pole and mount. On the left rear rod holder I have an extension. I got a jointed tent pole and cut it to the length I wanted, which was two joints. Then I tie wrapped it to the extension. It doesn't get in the way of my rods, has a flag mounted below the light, and is flexible enough for me to reach and bend it to me to turn the light on when needed. That's the key...be sure you mount it where you can reach it.

Mount a Scotty deck mount in the area just in front of the flushmounts. I agree that having it within your reach is a must; from turning light on/off to "breaking" shaft when dealing with overhead obstructions, mounted just behind you is a plus.
Mine is attached to my YakAttack BlackPak via a SL90 GearTrac, for use on my PA12.

I just insert my Visacarbon flag/light in the Hobie rod tube in the rear. No mounting required since I carry all my extra rods in the on-board rod holders.

Thanks guys. I was actually able to mount the Scotty flush mount just in front of the Hobie flush mount. It was tight but it came out nice. I'll get some pictures and post them one this snow goes away.
