First I just want to say hey yall. I will be picking up and be a proud new owner of a 2015 PA 14 very soon. This will be my first Hobie and will be moving to Oklahoma City area from texas. I'm excited about this new PA and new water that I will get to experience.

I currently have THULE Xsporter racks on my truck and I know I could load the PA up there. However, being from Texas I drive a truck that sits up pretty high(just leveled with 35s). I figured a trailer would be much easier and I could use my truck racks to hold my other kayaks.

I just picked up a Shorelander jet ski trailer for nothing. I will be doing the 3" pvc bunks spaced at 10" off center. I'm worried about the length of the trailer and having the PA stick out from back end of trailer. I have tried using the forum search feature, but Like most forums I'm not getting the results I hoped for. Searching on Google and finding forums post from this site has gave me most of the info I have needed, but i havent found much on a good length for trailer. It looks like most are extending the tongue but wasn't sure if that was because of the PITA of towing a short trailer. @Ring King trailer is amazing and plan to eventually build the trailer like his setup.

Can yall share some of your trailer guidance with me? right now I'm thinking about getting one of those swing away trailer tongues. I can then add whatever ever length I need to the tongue.

I tried to go back and fix my autocorrect mess that my IPad is doing. Sorry for any random corrections I have missed.

Nothing wrong using the wooden bunks if the wood is sound.
One thing that does happen is the PA sits higher off the ground and requires dipping the trailer farther back into the water for launch and recovery.
My PA-14 sits 24" off the ground, nested on 2 7/8" OD Schedule 40 PVC parallel pipes.
I used 11 degree couplers to "angle down" the last 40" of pipes for ease of launch and recovery.....I also use a winch to pull the PA back on my trailer since I don't have bearing buddies on the wheel hubs.

Got the trailer built with great help and info from several post once I got the search figured out. I'm having with the spacing of the pvc falling in line with the scupper channel. I used 3" pvc spaced 10", 10.5", and 11" off center in the rear and a tad bit narrower in the front. The front is great but the rear I'm questioning. Maybe I'm just parinoid... I thought about using lock nuts and loosen them up a bit so the pvc has more freedom, but I figured that might not be wise. Anyone have pics of the pvc siting in the scupper hole channel? until then time to role.

Trailer tongue will be lengthen, basket in the front to hold yeti, removable uprights and rack to hold another kayak, larger fenders for the mag 13" wheels, sandblasting and paint. I may weld on tabs to carry my bike on one side and narrow long tool box on the other.

Derrick.....Looks great!
Regarding... "I thought about using lock nuts and loosen them up a bit so the pvc has more freedom, but I figured that might not be wise."
I used 1/4 x 20 bolts with Nylock nuts, but also used a fender washer under the bolt head I prebent/shaped to match the ID shape of the PVC.....and then a second, flat fender washer under the Nylock nut......having a little looseness in the hardware works good for the PVC to better fit the shape of the hull.

I will give that shot! Thanks. After pulling it to the lake I notice some other stuff I also need to do.

Well I finished up the second part of the trailer yesterday. Gave it a facelift:
Hubs
Studs
Bearings
Adjusted pvc
Some grinding
3 coats of paint
Wheels
Tires

I plan on adding uprights and a rack on top like @Ring King trailer. I will then add on a roof top tent.... Or I may add it to my Thule truck racks.

I also rigged the PA yesterday with just a few little things:
Elite 7 chirp
Yakattack panfish/ dog bone
Two gopro hero 3 black with battery eliminator (12 hours of 1080 60fps recording from both)
Yeti roadie 20

I found this video on youtube today and this trailer is from Harbor Freight. They are having a 25% off sale right now and the trailer is $399.99 but with the coupon it is $299.99. Trailer will hold 600 pounds.
