I have recently put a 12V 8AH battery in the gear bucket in the rear hatch of my PA14 to power my HB999HDSI fish finder. It has a Hobie Thru Wire fitting and a quick connect. All is good with this and I think it is a great way to house the battery on a PA. Also, I got a Black And Decker battery charger/tender.

Here is my question for those of you that have this setup...

Can I just leave the battery in the bucket and in the kayak and just plug my charger/tender in without risk of things getting hot or melting a hole in the bucket and then the kayak? Am I just being overly cautious?

Thoughts/Input welcome!

No problem at all. Battery won't get hot if the charger is designed to handle the standard 12v 8 amp gel cell that you have.
