In you have the leaning bar and H rail system on a PA12 2015, you can flip the leaning bar around and mount it backwards at the back of the H track. The shorter angled arms point forward and mount on the rail. When mounted at the extreme rear of the H tracks, the ends of the main bars line up and fit almost perfectly into the fishing rod holders. Looks like a roll bar. They couldn't have planned this, but voila, it works.

Why would you want to do this, you ask?

Because it is a perfect frame, along with the front bar, for a bimini/sun shield/weather enclosure. For me it will allow getting near to animals under cover for photography. Like duck hunting from a kayak but with a camera.

I have rigged up my PA12 with a second H-bar as described, and made a blind out of camp tarp and a few grommets. Put in windows on the side walls and a clear window in the dodger for visibility. In my initial post I said the bar ends fit in the rod holders. They do but I wanted something more secure, so I thru bolted the straight pad eyes that come with the H-bar, locating them in about the middle of the rear deck just in from where the shock cords clip to the gunwales. Gives a very sturdy rail that could also be used as a rearward facing leaning rail for fishing.

I will attach pics when I figure out how. Suggestions appreciated!

Interesting, great idea guys. Would love to see some photos. Another mod, the wife keeps asking me, "How could you possibly add another "thing" to my Hobie PA-14?"

If your asking how to add pictures to your post, I just use tinypic.com. You just browse to the picture you want to post and hit upload. It will come back with 4 responses - one labeled IMG code for message boards. Copy and paste that into your message.. IMG]http://i66.tinypic.com/11reyhz.jpg[/IMG ...but include the brackets before and after the first and last IMG... In this case you end up with this...Image
