PA 17 T. Spacings for PVC pipes on trailer.

Sold my PA 14 and ordered a 17T. I had the PVC 4 inch at 10 inch centres for the 14, does any one know the spacings for a 17T.

Getting the trailer ready to pick up the 17.

Fyi... we are not big fans of the PVC trailer bunks. The seem to push up the cockpit floor. That can cause issues when you try to use a cart. The wheels rub.

How do PVC bunks under the kayak push up on the cockpit floor??

We have seen the scuppers being pushed up by our display racks... same idea. Runs for / aft along the indented part of the hull. The constant pressure has pushed the scuppers up which pushes up the floor.

Interesting, Matt. I wondered about that when I was at the local dealer recently and we removed a PA14 from the display platform. As I recall, the display rack was foam padded rigid pipe, so although the foam would give a little bit radially there was no opportunity for longitudinal distortion. The nice thing about PVC is that it bends easily to fit the hull profile and probably provides more surface contact area for load distribution than your display rack. If your in-store display rack experience is the basis for Hobie's "official recommendation" about not using PVC for storage and transport, that may not be a valid comparison. I would certainly not consider transporting my PA on a support as stiff as your in-store display racks.
