Power pole micro

I was given a power pole micro by my beautiful wife and I would like to know from those who have experience with one if it is really worth it. I fish shallow water in the Tampa bay region in a Hobie pa 14. The local dealer claims it is no good and will possibly damage my kayak. Also I would like to use some keeleazon my hull and would like to know if adding this can somehow void any warranty for my kayak. Thanks for your help

Im not sure what keeleazon is?? but how will adding a power pole micro damage ur boat?? Hobie makes a mount specifically for the Pro Anglers. Are you trying to mount it in a different way?

I think Migbarky means "KeelEazy". It's a stick on vinyl tape to protect hulls http://www.keeleazy.com/

It's expensive ($4.00 per foot) and is tricky to form up a curve. I bought a 4' strip 3 years ago for my PA-14 and it does work, but I augmented it with Gorilla Tape.

Gorilla tape is about $10.00 for a 2" wide x 35 yard roll at Ace Hardware and 3 layers of tape work very well......the nice thing is, if you damage the tape, rip off the tape and reapply new tape.

oh alright. I know a wilderness systems pro staff guy that had that. I thought it was cool and was looking at his but he told me it was junk. He said expensive and lasted one or two trips before wearing through.

I'm sorry I did mean keeleazy. As for the ppm am wondering if the pressure it puts on the rudder cover and rear handle will cause problems.id like to keep it but don't want to have to deal with problems later on that's all

I've been using the power pole on my 2015 PA14 since early this year and am very happy with it. I can use it multiple trips with the same battery charge and With an 8' pole it anchors well in 5" or less. I was in west Marine a couple weeks ago,and saw a 10' pole I'm considering. Only challenge has been to remember to tilt the motor or remove the pole at times going under branches you think it will fit through. I still carry my claw anchor in case I need to anchor in deeper water, if the power pole somehow fails or to use with the trolley if I need to position the yak for wind/current, but I usually just stand up and cast backwards if facing the wrong way

Oh and I also fish the Tampa area

Not sure if it puts any pressure on the rudder cover or not since the screw go through it to the yak and if I remember correctly the instructions say to remove the cover.. Since the mount is a Hobie part I'd assume it would be a warranty item if damage is due to defect.

We've designed mount kits specifically for mounting a Power Pole Micro to the PA 12, PA 14 or the Outback. The mount kit for the Power Pole Micro disperses the load when the spike is deployed, thus preventing deck damage. Our Fishing Team uses the Power Pole Micro regularly, and when mounted properly shouldn't cause damage to your hull whatsoever. I think you'll love it for your intended application.
