My wooden Hobie pro.

Build my own wooden Hobie-alike fishing canoe two years ago. In the mean time I used it a lot and made some small modifications.

Wow that is amazing. You are a seriously talented craftsman! How much does it weigh?

The canoe weight is appr. 45 kilo without its attributes (chair, mirage-drive, peddle).

She is gorgeous!

When I first read the subject I thought "a wooden Hobie Pro,what is this gonna look like?", and then I see the pic and I'm blown away. Excellent work! You should send the Hobie folks a pic, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

A joy to behold (my wife agrees) and it sails! Just about the most interesting wooden boat construction blog I have ever seen (I followed the link). Proves the maxim that you can never have too many clamps…

That is a beautifully executed design!

One thing I see is the rudder appears to hang down quite far/deep.
I assume the rudder control is very good to keep the boat on track.

Have you considered upgrading to Turbo Fins?

Was going to suggest the same thing... But suggest you wait until the new Mirage 180 is released. My thinking is that there is going to be a glut of late model Mirage drives with Turbo Fins up for sale later winter or early spring next year, as people like me upgrade to the new drive.
