I have a 2012 Hobie PA14 and as the title says I'm looking for a factory replacement seat for it. My seat has snapped at the joint and I need a replacement. I know that there are plenty of aftermarket seats available that will bolt right in, but I'm looking for a factory replacement seat. The boat has been out of production for a while so I'm not sure if parts are still available for purchase.

Matt,

I know John McGowan (hydrophilic on the JKF forums) ended up purchasing a complete 2012 PA seat earlier this year. I would think that indicates they are still available. I believe they run about $300 for the complete seat.

Is it possible to buy the seat without the aluminum bracket? My bracket is fine. Just the seat itself failed.

This seat is only offered as a complete assembly. Unfortunately we don't distribute the metal mounting bracket alone.

And the first thing you should do with the new seat is get rid of those plastic seat buckle doodads. Replace with the stainless buckle doodads.

And I might add, my old school seat is AWESOME! Easy in, easy out. I call it my sofa. Gives the PA14 a nice, low center of gravity.

I put 54 miles on my PA in five days of wilderness camping on Lake Powell earlier this spring. The longest day was 15 miles. I love that seat!

I have the stainless buckles on the seat that broke. Don't really care for them personally. I can't ever seem to get the straps to stay where I want them with the stainless buckles. I ended up setting them where it was comfortable and then used zip ties around the straps to keep them from slipping through the stainless buckles.

I'm no stranger to Hobie or the comfort of their seats. That 2012 Pro Angler 14 has served me very well over the years with many 10-15 mile days while fishing. I've spent as many as 34 hours in my Pro Angler in a single weekend from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning!! My current 2014 Pro Angler 14 sees equal use and has been quite a pleasure to fish from as well! Can't wait to get my 2017 camo Pro Angler 14 in so that I can try out the reverse!!
