we have a PA 14 that my son bought several years ago and it is on a fairly heavy duty trailer. I just purchased another PA 14 and want to convert the trailer to carry them both. I don't have a handy picture of the trailer. I can describe it. it is a wishbone design that has full fenders and it has two 2x4 on edge and the boat rides inside of the fenders. has anyone made this type of conversion?

I have a very similar trailer that currently has the Hobie trailer cradles for a single. I'm not a huge fan of them, they were already installed on the trailer when I bought my PA 14. I plan to do a conversion so I can trailer 2 kayaks with PVC pipes. Going to do 2 horizontal bars, front and back, across the width. Then bolt 4 4" PVC pipes total, creating 2 tracks on each side that the kayaks will sit on.

You are much better off using 2" schedule 40 PVC pipes as they conform to the hull shape.
Slot both ends of the pipe for the mounting bolts so it's allowed to "sag" once the hull is loaded.
I used SS fender washers under the head of the SS 5/16" bolts .
Use Nylock bolts and don't over tighten them. That would negate the ability of the pipes to sag and conform to the hull bottom shape.
This places minimum pressure on the hull and won't distort it over time.
