New Hobie Sailor

new owner of 2 old 16s, with trailers, an extra 14 mast and sail, total $800. Both in need of tlc. I have both 16 mains 2 jibs and one appears to be about a 140% jib. One of the 16 masts is non Hobie but maybe be functional. I am contemplating using the 14 mast and sail on the 16 until I get the feel of the boat. I realize performance will be down. Anyone got a 16 mast around to swap for a 14 set up? Goal is to set up both of the 16's for sailing. I have some sailing experience in a variety of craft from sunfish to Paceship 23 but always wanted to mess about in a cat. Yet to cleck out the many instructional videos. Hope to get one in the water on Cape Cod this summer. I have seen comments on hull leaks, where are the weak spots?
