Stuff you carry on your HobieCat

For my 21SE (weight is not much of a worry) I have a three section trampoline pouch that stays packed ready to go sailing. One large section has harnesses, one large pouch has wetsuits, the third section is divided into 4 sections. I leave righting bucket, bow line, gloves, camera, gps, tools, etc. All I need to do is lay on the front of the trampoline and attach. Plus 1 or two soft coolers for beer, pop and ice. Small dry bag for wallet, keys, phone etc is also within the hull.

5" ports if you want to access the inside the hull regularly (storage or repairs), 4" if you just need ventilation. 6" is too big for a Hobie 16. You can get countoured plates to help match the curve of the deck.

SRM makes a good point about port placement. I found 5 inch ports to be a good size. Also I would suggest getting Polyproplene ports instead of the ABS ports, they stand up to the sun much better.
