Hobie's website describes the current Getaway and the Wave in the follow way.
"...asymmetrically shaped underbody, which increases upwind performance without the hassle of daggerboards."

I was under the impression that all the rotomolded boats had symmetric hulls and consequently suffered some side-slip and decreased upwind performance. Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks in advance!

Last time I checked the hulls were symmetric. I found a very small blemish on both hulls on my Getaway in the identical spot which suggests that both hulls were made in the same mold so unless the hull design changed since '08 I'm confident they are symmetric.

The skeg is there to help minimize sideslip and works well but depending on the conditions you can notice the boat sideslipping at times. That being said, very versatile boat in a wide range of conditions. My wife and I have recorded 17 knots on a reach, had 4 adults aboard on other occasions (no wings) and sailed to an island with all our camping gear on another.

Copy writer error. Duh.

The hulls are symmetrical.

Thanks for the info! 17 knots wow! Was that a beam reach? What were the wind speeds? Was that on one hull or sailing flat? Trapeze? Sorry for all the questions. :D

So does "asymmetrically shaped underbody" mean something else besides hulls then?

Well, the drain plugs are only on one side, so that is asymmetrical. :)

Naw, simple trust in a copywriter that wasn't read carefully by our marketing department. It's tough to re-read stuff when editing... you end up not seeing simple stuff.

Doesn't say that on the site anymore. Fixed.
