Cat Box

So I recently acquired a used fiberglass cat box. It was drilled for a different trailer, so I'm going to have to drill new holes in it so that I can mount it to my trailer.

I was wondering if the box should be water tight or not? If I do make it water tight, should I install a drainplug? How would I go about installing a drain plug? The wall of the box is fairly thin, so I think I'd have to beef up the glass a little around the plug.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be a great help.

Whether it is watertight, from the bottom, or not is somewhat immaterial. Our box floats the whole trailer, with boat on it, if backed too far down a ramp. I dont think there is a need to beef up around a plug you plan on installing, unless you're going to stand in the box. I'd bet you can cover the old holes with duct tape and it wont take on much if any water while loading of unloading. Could use them for drain holes if necessary.

Hobie 16 style drain plugs work really well but John's idea works just as well good luck Tom

My homemade box purposefully has holes in the bottom to drain. After all, you are often putting wet stuff in there.

I cover the holes with duct tape when I put the boat away for a long winter's nap.
