Gree, I'd just bite the bullet and buy a new H16 spin (or similar). You can't beat the prices on spins from Whirlwind. I doubt you'd find a good used spin for the price of a new Whirlwind sail. I've sold all my used I20 spins for more than I've bought new H16 spins for.
Even though you say you don't know what you're doing, it will be much easier to learn with a newer spin in good shape that sails as it is supposed to. If you get an old beater spin that is worn out, chances are it'll teach you some bad habits and not perform correctly.
