Skid Marks

I've been talking to a buddy of mine, who sells a product that starts out gooey and cures to a bullet-proof, hard-hat kind of shell. I was wondering if it would adhere to a fiberglass/rotomolded hull, and if so, would it be worth proofing your Hobie hulls/skegs against any and all abrasion/impact resistance. I envisioned buying a small "kit" of this product, and painting it between two masked tape lines, then peeling the masking off. Once cured, you could beach, ram, etc. your Hobie onto any surface for only the cost of a few pounds. Think "Keel Guard" at West Marine (an adhesive backed rubber strip), only more flexible. You could paint it up the bow of the Hobie hulls and gain protection from all kinds of issues like trailering, retaining walls, etc. Please let me know if this sounds feasible.

The only reservation I would have about that is long term cosmetics and how easily it could be removed. I remember a guy at wrightsville beach, nc had awesome 18sx that had like a 1 x 1 inch hard rubber strip that he glued to the bottom of his hull. Being a beach boat and really only sailed with beach launches I thought this was cool as his hulls were in perfect condition. I thought it was a great idea, because it seemed easily removable as well. I think Trey from Raleigh ended up buying this boat after a hurricane/storm rolled through wrightsville. He may know something about what he used or genstar may know as he sails in wrightsville.

This stuff is super-permanent. It comes in a few colors, but I've only used battleship gray. If it gets damaged in any way, which is highly unlikely, another coat fixes it right up.

Sounds like the the type of coating in the bed of a pickup truck. Is this for the getaway? I would think rotomolded boats are made to take hits and be fairly scratch/wear resistant. I think everything else is going to wear out on that boat before the hulls. Just my 2 cents.
