A couple of weeks ago, I couldn't get my mainsail halyard to release and fall back down.....so my uncle of which I have a few choice words for regarding this incident...decides that we need to get a closer look at what was hanging the halyard up. So he decides to lift the mast out of its cradle without me being able to position myself to be able to properly do this procedure. Well needless to say, the mast falls to the ground, popping the rivets out of the stake that were holding the bob onto the mast.

I have a comptip mast so I am inquisitive as to the best way to 1. seal the old holes where the rivet once were, and 2. reattach the 'bob' one again. Would it be best to find an epoxy to patch where the rivets once were, or put a piece of sheet aluminum over them and find a new place to to attach the mast bob stake? Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated as I bought the boat recently and have only sailed it once.
Thanks again,
Sean
