It would be a shame to not realize the PR potential in this event. I would have thought that results, pictures and stories would be all over the mainstream sailing media by now.

That looks like a return to old times .....

Did those retro sails have a "McGibbons" sailmakers patch on them????

The oldest sail pattern I've seen were alternating color panels .... Blue/White, Red/White, Green/White ... etc w/ a McGibbons sailloft patch on them .... I don't know when "West Coast Catamaran" sails replaced McGibbons .... does anyone know when this change took place? Mid 70's???

My first Hobie was a H16 (yes I did sail a H16 for several years but SHsssssssss, we won't tell anyone) the Sail# 572. I think the boat was made in 71'-72' as the trailer was manufactured in 71' according to the title. It had the Blue/White/Blue/White ... etc pattern.

And I do have a H18 mainsail that looks like that H16 w/ the one red panel but it has a white Hobie "H", sail#1400 .... my quess is maybe it was made in 1978'???

Does anyone remember the 1976 Bicentennial Sails: Mainsail- alternating Red/White panels, Jib- Dark Blue w/ 13 white stars in a circle ....

I do miss those days of 100 boat regetta's w/ all the different patterns/colors ... Rum Runner, Cat Fever, Teqeila SunRise, White Prism, Double Plum, Blue Hawaii .... etc

Thanks for reviving the memories ....

Everyone's recovering from an epic event, so information will hit the boards slowly.

Thanks for the great event everyone that helped out. James, George, etc.

Did anyone get the stories from the legends either video or audio?

I just realized how much I really really wanted to be there. Must have been one of the greatest events.

You lucky lucky people.

It's too bad I'm at college and can't take time out to go race/have money to ship my boat and myself all the way there. My 18 isn't class legal to race anyway, but I definitely would have had fun just sailing around. Congrats to the winners and I hope everyone who attended had fun.

There aren't enough young folk like me who sail hobies, there must be more of us out there somewhere...

Posting on the boards doesn't count. That's just preaching to the quire. Someone need to write a story for Scuttlebutt at the very least. Hopefully someone is working on a Sailing World story but you need professional pictures for that. This event is the PR chance of a lifetime. God I hope someone is working on something.
