When you try to determine if your Hobie is considered "motorized" do read the definitions in your state boat laws or MVD laws. Many use a definition that reads, as in NM, that your vessel is "motorized" if it uses a means of propulsion other than muscle power. That is to say a motorized vessel may include ones with sail.

That's a good point...I think everyone should know how to slow down, stop and backup their boat. It can save a lot of headache and/or damage when around power boaters that have no clue when it comes to sail power
