I am one of those people who like to know that I do not owe anyone except my friends for being friends. But if the desire for the boat becomes great enough I will do it. That Javelin for sell really temps me!

FYI, I've sailed with the guys that own the Jav in Tulsa and it is unreal how fast that boat is in a blow. They have added some mods from the original design to make it more user friendly and is a fantastic buy.

Finance it. Everyone else does.

How do you usually find financing? Does the dealer usually provide or direct you to someone? Who would finance a racing boat like a Tiger, sounds risky, though the resale value is pretty good...must be some serious insurance requirements or a bad interest rate.

I did my last boat with my credit union. 5.75% good enough for me!

Gree, you better go ride that Jav before you make your decision. I raced one a couple years ago. It is fast but unbelievably fragile, rudder system is a pita. If you really want to go fast with little maintenance get an I-20. They are the bomb! Big, fast and durable. I was present when a buddy hit the beach on his with the daggers down, threw him and the crew off the front hard, thought the hulls must be trashed. It scratched the daggers and put a small indention in the dagger well, I'm sold. If I had done that on my Fox it would have split the hulls in two. My 2 cents worth says leave the Jav alone.

HobieOKC,

Didn't that Jav sail in the Tybee 500?
If so, don't they also have an older Tornado that's probably for sale?

ncmbm: The rudder system is one of the first things they modified and yes, it was a pita. Knowing the carnage that on-shore starts had wreaked on rudder systems during previous Worrell 1000 races, modifying the jav was a requirement.
big jib: Yes, this is the same boat from the Tybee and yes they have been, albeit quietly, trying to sell an older Tornado for, I believe, $1000. The Jav is selling for $7500, but without a trailer.

AHHHH, stop advertising that boat all over this site!! I am really looking for a way to buy it now and am really considering the finance option now that it has been brought up.

I know the boat will be a pita, but that is kinda what I am looking for. For some reason the complexity of these things makes me love them.

Do you have an email or anything for the guy with the jav?

Fast, yes, Little maintenance I'm not so sure. They are great boats, don't get me wrong. But. ask anyone that sailed the Alter cup last year what they think about the durability. That's all I'm saying.
