As I stated on my "Epic Chesapeake adventure" post, our jib cleat decided to go for a swim. I can see no evidence of the rivet holes on the mast being egged out or otherwise deformed. I suppose one of the rivets just failed and the other couldn't take double duty and followed suit. I imagine I can just order a new cleat, rivets and casings and replace the cleat using the same holes in the mast, has anyone else done this?

I quess it wouldn't be a bad idea to make this a double order since it might happen to another cleat being they are 27 years old.

just order another cleat and some rivets, with rivet caps and your good to go. I would prob replace both while I was into it but that could be the dealer coming out in me too....

Thanks Brad! I looked in the Hobie online catalog and got confused (The catalog listed scews and nuts instead of rivets). I called Backyard boats in Va. (Great people, FAST shipping!!), I ordered the cleat and rivets. They said I only need rivets...no casings, shouldn't there be casings? Anyway, I ordered the cleat and 2 rivets plus the obligatory couple goodies and they'll be here Wednesday. I am concerned about the casing thing though.

the rivet sleeve as its called just makes it water tight, not a must on the cleats
